Hello, and happy Caturday!
As we mentioned in our last update, we’re in full renovation mode at affoGATO Cat Cafe. A picture is worth 1,000 words, so here are some more progress pictures!

Those wooden posts are brackets, which the shelves on the right slide on to. Once all of the shelf covers are done, they’ll be painted light grey, and we can install the last bookshelf and floating shelf. It’ll look like this!
We painted the former office, which will now be our food, drink, and merchandise storage area, in order to keep it separate from the cats:
We finished painting the bathrooms! (red is cafe, blue is cat lounge)
The black paint on the doors was heavily peeling, so we just peeled them entirely before painting them all a matching white. We also finished painting the back room light grey, which will be the cat privacy space.
As for non-painting updates, we worked with KP Security Rolling Shutters to install security shutters to keep people from shining lasers or lights on the cats or breaking the cat lounge window at night.
There has been lots of deep cleaning to make the space good as new before the cats move in!
On the cafe side, the front counter that our family member is building is nearly done, it just needs to be anchored against the partition wall and stained. We have also started getting our cafe equipment delivered.
Finally, the partition wall has passed city inspection and been fully installed! We’re in the process of mudding/painting it, and then the windows and doors can be installed.
We’re still waiting on the official health department approval, but we have been informed that we should be receiving official notification shortly.
We should also be receiving our donor shirts any day now. After we receive them, we will arrange a couple of days for donors to be able to pick up their stickers and/or shirts. If you can’t make it, we can either mail them to you or arrange for you to pick it up at your first visit.

That being said, we are working to open as soon as possible! Thank you for your patience as we navigate the city process, and as our team completes the renovations. Our current estimate is mid-September, but we will be posting our opening date and scheduling visits as soon as we are able. We’re excited to open too! 😸
